Oatmeal with Berries and Almonds

DASH Diet Cookbook for Beginners

This wholesome breakfast is a fiber-rich, antioxidant-packed way to kick off your day.

Ingredients:

    • ½ cup rolled oats
    • 1 cup low-fat milk or unsweetened almond milk
    • ½ cup fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries)
    • 1 tablespoon sliced almonds
    • Cinnamon to taste

Instructions:

    • Bring the milk or almond milk to a gentle simmer in a saucepan. Stir in the rolled oats and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are creamy and soft.
    • Once cooked, transfer the oats to a bowl and top with fresh berries.
    • Sprinkle with sliced almonds and a dash of cinnamon for a hint of sweetness and warmth.

Why It’s Healthy:

Oats are high in soluble fiber, which helps to regulate cholesterol levels and maintain healthy digestion. The fresh berries are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that protect your cells and boost heart health, while almonds provide healthy fats and extra protein
